Written by Sonny Burke and published in 1948, jazz vocalist Sarah Vaughan charted ‘Black Coffee’ on her record with Columbia just a year after. 5 years from it’s release, Traditional pop and Jazz artist Peggy Lee released her own version which was then covered by many other artists; from Ray Charles (The Great Ray Charles 1957) to Sinéad O’Connor (Am I Not Your Girl? 1992).
